Passenger Injured in One-Car Crash on I-93

State Police closed down a single lane on I93 for a car accident earlier this morning.

A passenger riding in a van on Interstate 93 northbound was injured after the vehicle ran off the road and crashed.

According to State Police spokesman David Procopio, police received a call about a single-car accident on Interstate 93 northbound shortly before the Dascomb Road exit at 6:11 a.m.

Police report that the 40-year-old driver was unharmed but the 20-year-old man in the passenger seat sustained serious head trauma and was transported to an area hospital by ALS (advanced life support).

Police closed the far right lane of traffic until the scene was cleared around 7 a.m.  The van was towed from the scene.

The accident is currently under investigation.
