Pediatrician Charged with Child Porn Stripped of NH Medical License

On Monday the New Hampshire Board of Medicine decided to suspend Andover resident Dr. Richard Keller's medical license in the wake of his Sept. 13 arrest related to a child pornography collection.

A little more than a week ago Keller, who is a pediatrician, was charged with receiving child pornography in Boston's federal court. Keller allegedly received roughly 50 DVDs of child pornography by mail, according to the Sept. 13 press release.

The New Hampshire Board of Medicine held an emergency hearing on Thursday, Sept. 20, in order to suspend Keller's New Hampshire medical license. The action was taken in light of the charges recently placed against him involving child pornography, according to a press release from Sarah Blodgett, a New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General in the Administrative Prosecutions Unit.

Keller will return to the board on Oct. 3 for a hearing that will determine whether he will keep his medical license in New Hampshire while the case is being investigated.

Last Wednesday, Keller agreed not to practice medicine in Massachusetts while authorities investigate the claims, which include deliveries of child pornography to both his Cyr Circle home and Phillips Academy, where he worked at the medical director for 19 years.

On Friday, Keller also waived his right in federal court for any possibility of bail during the investigation.

Both of Keller's current employers, Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, put him on leave after his arrest.
