Phillips Academy Andover Graduate Honored On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

ANDOVER, MA — What do Kevin Olusola of the a capella group Pentatonix, actors Humphrey Bogart and Jack Lemmon and Law & Order producer Dick Wolf all have in common?

For one, they all attended Phillips Academy in Andover. As of last week, all of them also have been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Feb. 21, Pentatonix — which also includes Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, and Matt Sallee — was honored with the 2,748th star, which was presented in the category of Live Theater/Live Performance.

The Pentatonix star is located between the stars of singer Etta James and composer Cole Porter.

“We are thrilled to honor our first a cappella group to the Hollywood Walk of Fame," said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "Pentatonix's melodic music makes their listeners want more and more."

Olusola, whose nickname is "KO," is a Kentucky native and 2006 graduate of Phillips Academy. He is known for his beatboxing and is an accomplished cellist.

Since emerging on the scene in 2011, Pentatonix has won three Grammy Awards, sold 10 million albums worldwide and generated billions of streams. The group has performed everywhere from the White House to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to the Hollywood Bowl and with the likes of Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson.

Last October, Pentatonix released the album "Holidays Around the World," which became the group's ninth Top 10 album on the Billboard Top Holiday Albums Chart.

This summer, the group will be embarking on a 24-city North American tour.
