Police Say Man Spit on Someone at the Library
Most of the action in this past weekend's police log fell on Sunday. The following information was supplied by the Andover Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The following are excerpts from the Andover Police log. The log is open to the public.
Saturday, Sept. 22
At 1:23 a.m. police arrested Ryan C. Courtney, 18, of 12 Blackstone St., Peabody, on 315 Turnpike Street, North Andover. Courtney was charged with possession of liquor as someone under 21. This was a courtesy booking for Merrimack College Police.

At 12:43 a.m. a caller reported that his car was vandalized while he was at work on North Main Street.
At 5:01 p.m. a private security company contacted police about kids riding dirt bikes and ATVs in the area of Burtt Road. Police confiscated one ATV that was left on someone’s property.

Sunday, Sept. 23
At 12:26 a.m. callers reported hearing a female scream for help in the downtown area and saw two men chasing a woman down the street. The woman eventually reached Palmers and police made an arrest. Police arrested Adrian J. Wright, 38, of 118 Perkins Court, Haverhill, on Elm Street. Wright was charged with assault and battery on a household member and operating under the influence of liquor. This was a domestic situation.
At 7:40 a.m. a caller reported that his home was covered with toilet paper sometime last night on Porter Road.
At 1:54 p.m. an officer reported that the street sign for William Street was missing.
At 2:38 p.m. the reference desk employee at Memorial Hall Library reported to police that a man spat on another man and then left the library. An officer located the individual and advised him that if he returns to the library he will be considered trespassing.
At 2:39 p.m. a caller reported a 44-year-old male chocking on food on Candlewood Drive. The object was removed from the man’s throat before emergency personnel arrived on scene.
At 4:34 p.m. a caller reported a motorcycle accident with injuries on Interstate 495. The motorcycle was towed and the operator was transported to Lawrence General Hospital.
At 10:02 p.m. a Merrimack College student reported that his iPhone was stolen and that he tracked it to Crescent Drive in Andover. The phone locator, however, only led the student to Crescent Drive; it wasn’t able to specify an address on Crescent Drive.
