Resident Charged with Assault and Battery on Haggetts Pond Road

The following are excerpts from the log. The log is open to the public.

Wednesday, Aug. 29

At 8:49 a.m. a caller reported a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 93. No injuries were reported.

At 9:11 a.m. a caller reported that someone went into his unlocked barn on Maple Avenue and stole two bicycles.

At 11:57 a.m. police stopped a motor vehicle and eventually discovered marijuana, under one ounce. The operator received a ticket for possession of a class D substance.

At 9:30 p.m. a caller reported a car that hit a tree on Osgood Street. No injuries were reported. The tree department was notified.

Thursday, Aug. 30

At 9:10 a.m. police arrested Joyce Wambui Kariuki, 24, of 36 2nd St., Lowell, on Punchard Avenue. Kariuki was charged with a past warrant.

At 4:11 p.m. a caller reported smoke coming from the ground on Powers Road.

At 4:14 p.m. a walk-in visitor reported vandalism to her motor vehicle on Railroad Street.

At 4:33 p.m. police arrested Rotha Pen, 29, of 50 Pine St., Lowell, on Union Street. Pen was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense and speeding.

At 7:49 p.m. police arrested Vladimir Shvets, 55, of 226 Haggetts Pond Road, on Haggetts Pond Road. Shvets was charged with assault and battery on a household member.
