Six Homes Temporarily Evacuated Due To Tuesday Night Gas Leak
All the residents were able to return to their homes within 2 hours, according to WHDH.
ANDOVER, MA — Six Andover homes were temporarily evacuated Tuesday night when a natural gas line was cut, according to multiple reports.
The gas leak was first reported by scanners around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. The police department said Eversouce had stopped the gas leak around 6:48 p.m.
The police warned that residents around Andover Street and Clark Road might smell gas.

WHDH reported that the road will have to be dug up to repair the line.

Gas leaks remain particularly sensitive in Andover, three years after the deadly Merrimack Valley gas explosions which killed one, injured 22, and damaged 131 structures in Andover, Lawrence and North Andover. Many residents were left unable to return to their homes for months following the accident.
