South School Coronavirus Outbreak Includes 24 Positive Cases

The elementary school reported a virus cluster Friday in a letter to families.

ANDOVER, MA — School officials have identified 24 coronavirus cases in the recent outbreak at South Elementary School, Principal Brenda Lee said Sunday in a school newsletter.

"In total, we have identified 24 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past week," she said.

The school was given "a deep clean" over the weekend.

Lee said Friday that the district expected more cases and asked families to keep home children with any symptoms. Another update was expected Monday.

The school will be closed Thursday for Veterans Day and Friday for Teacher Conferences, Lee noted.
