State Police Helicopter Busts Kids with Bonfire

The police logs for Thursday, Feb. 17 contains one arrest and several incidents.

At 7:53 a.m. the Fire Department responded to a call of a chemical odor coming from a vestibule in a building on South Main Street. Employees were informed to vacate the building until a technician arrives.

At 8:33 a.m. an officer reported that a sinkhole was beginning to form near a manhole cover on Park Street. The public works department was notified.

At 5:50 p.m. Lawrence Police reported that they had recovered a motor vehicle stolen in Andover. The car is drivable, but damage was done to the ignition.

At 6:55 p.m. police arrested Kevin McKenna, 32, of 8 Wakefield Ave., Wakefield, on Barnard Street. McKenna was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a revoked registration and an uninsured motor vehicle or trailer.

At 7:30 p.m. a car accident was reported outside of Wingate on Dascomb Road. No injuries were reported.

At 8:03 p.m. the State Police Air Wing unit reported seeing subjects in the woods with a small fire near power lines off North Street. State Police then informed Andover Police that the subjects had put the fire out and were leaving the area in a vehicle. State Police said that the vehicle eventually stopped at Cyr Circle. Police spoke with the individuals responsible for the fire. State Police regularly patrol with the Air Wing unit and assist both local and federal agencies.
