Town Clerk Says Election Day 'Will Be Busy'

Town Clerk Lawrence Murphy spoke to selectman Monday about Election Day in November and how busy it will be this time around. Polling locations will include the high school and the senior center.

Muprhy told selectmen that he feels this election will have an equal or higher turnout than the last Presidential election, which was 88 percent. He also said that the three polarizing ballot questions, , will keep people busy in the booths as well. 

"There are three ballot question and they are the same for every precinct. I'm sure people will spend a lot of time at the voting booth," said Murphy on Monday night. "It will be a busy day there will be no question about it."

These two factors will make this election a little more challenging for election workers and push them to keep people moving through the voting booths.

Murphy said that, for Andover High School, luckily students do not have school that day, and that will cut down on a lot of the traffic that was seen during the primary election this September. Faculty will have an in-service day at the high school.

The election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The polling location for precincts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 will be the field house at Andover High School and Andover Senior Center will handle precincts 1, 7 and 8.

The last day to register vote in the November elections is Oct. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Clerk's office.
