Updated: Water Main Break in Andover May Cause Water Discoloration

The water system has been disturbed enough that residents in the surrounding areas of Main Street may experience discoloration.

A water main break in the areas of Route 28 south at Route 133 in Andover is expected to cause traffic delays throughout Saturday, according to Andover Police.

Route 28 down to one lane each direction. Traffic is getting by, and Andover Police officers are directing traffic in the area.

Repairs were completed Saturday afternoon, according to town officials.

ANDOVER POLICE UPDATE pn SATURDAY:

“Due to this leak and the water main break that happened at Washington Park on Friday evening, the water system in Andover has been disturbed enough that residents in the surrounding areas of Main Street may experience discoloration or disruption in their water service during the day and perhaps into the early evening.

Discolored water may also result in areas further out than the central area of Andover. The DPW is working diligently to get this leak repaired and are running hydrants to flush the system. We suggest that residents run their outside spigot until the water runs clear. We appreciate your patience while we attend to this repair.”
