VIDEO: Firehouse Proposed for South School Field

The Ballardvale Fire Station Building Committee recently reported that the baseball field at the South Elementary School makes an ideal location for new fire station. The committee gave their final report to selectmen Monday night.

The committee said that the locatoin is perfect because it is land already owned by the town and land that would require minimal site work. It would provide superior response time and give fire vehicles a optimal line of site in exiting on Woburn Street or Andover Street.

Citizens that attended the meeting said that they were worried about putting a fire station so close to a school. Also, they said that people that live around South School never made the choice to live near a fire station, unlike those that live near the current 120-year-old Station.
