Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Andover Still Unclaimed

A $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at the West Andover Mobil on River Road Wednesday but the owner of the ticket has yet to come forward.

In the height of Powerball fever, a local Mobil station recently sold a $1 million winning Powerball ticket, meaning it hit on 5 out of the 6 numbers. However, a winner has yet to come forward to claim their $1 million prize, according to a state lottery official.

The winning ticket, sold at the West Andover River Road Mobil, was one of 26 other $1 million winning Powerball tickets sold throughout the country, according to state lottery spokesperson Beth Bresnahan.

There was only one other sold in Massachusetts, which came out of Pittsfield and is also unclaimed.

Given that the lottery will honor a ticket up to a year after the drawing, Bresnahan said that it is very common for people to not claim lottery winners right away.

She said, among all winners, there is a healthy cross section of lottery winners that will wait weeks or even months later.
