YMCA Swim Teams Compete in National, World Competitions
The Andover/North Andover YMCA Masters Swim Team athletes brought home four medals from the the World Masters Championships in Italy.

June was a big month for the competitive swim teams of the Andover/North Andover YMCA.
Five athletes from the Masters Swim Team represented the New England Masters Swim Club at the FINA World Masters Championships in Riccione, Italy.

The local athletes competed in five competitive swimming events, bringing home four medals.
“This was such an exciting event and it was great to see the team’s hard work all year pay off,” said Rick Battistini, Masters Swim Team coach and swimmer. “So many tremendous athletes travel to the World Championships every year, including current and former Olympians, and we’re so proud to have been a part of the action.”

Forty-four synchronized swimmers from the Andover/North Andover YMCA Synchro Team competed at the 2012 eSynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming National Championships at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
The largest synchronized swim team in the country, the ANA Synchro team successfully placed nine of their routines in the top ten in various age divisions.
Head coach, Svetlana Malinovskaya, couldn’t be happier for the team.
“The girls practice so hard during the year and it showed at Nationals. The routines were executed with grace and poise, and I’m proud to work with such amazing athletes.”
