Arlington Apartment Complex Recognized As One Of State's Best

ARLINGTON, MA — A fairly new apartment complex was recognized with a prestigious state award.

The Artemis, located at 1163 Massachusetts Ave. in Arlington Heights, was named Small Community of the Year at the Massachusetts Apartment Association’s President’s and Achievement Awards during its Boston ceremony in early December.

The Artemis was completed in 2024 after a nearly three-year construction process. It was designed by the architectural firm of Bargman Hendrie and Archetype, Inc. and built by Aberthaw Construction Company. It consists of three residential buildings and a standalone amenity building. Amenities of the property include a fitness center, clubroom, rooftop deck, two-level covered parking garage, conference room, and bike room. The complex was built by repurposing an old mill structure and factory building that was part of Theodore Schwamb Co. One major addition to The Artemis slated for 2026 is the addition of The Arlington Brewing Company, which is permanently making 15 Ryder St. its headquarters.

According to the MAA, the award The Artemis received highlights communities that stand out for their design, operations, and overall resident experience across the state.

“This recognition reflects the vision and effort of everyone involved in the project. From Mirak Properties and Spaulding & Slye Investments to the management team led by The Dolben Company, Inc., each partner played an important role in bringing The Artemis at Arlington Heights to fruition and establishing it as a standout community in the Massachusetts market,” The Artemis’s leadership said in a statement.

Eight apartment complexes throughout the Commonwealth were recognized across different categories of awards. The Artemis is owned and managed by the Dolben Company, which oversees approximately 16,000 residential units across the east coast.
