Multiple residents outside directed the officers to the back of the home where one person remained trapped inside and could not escape. According to the department, DiVito led the charge in getting the elderly woman out of the house safely. In addition to the Certificate of Commendation, DiVito was also given the Police Life Saving Medal.Koslowsky joined Arlington police in 2022 while DiVito was sworn in in 2024.

Battles was given the award for a daring arrest he carried out on Sunday, Nov. 30. After suspicion of shoplifting at nearby grocery stores Whole Foods and Stop and Shop, the suspect led officers on a foot pursuit on Massachusetts Avenue and failed to heed repeated commands to stop. The person then reportedly pulled a long metal rebar from their person, and Battles tackled the person to prevent them from harming anyone nearby. Battles joined the Arlington Police Department this past August.
“Every day, police officers serve their communities in countless ways. While many situations are part of an officer’s daily shift, it is always important to recognize and commend those who go above and beyond in the line of duty,” Flaherty said. “These commendations recognize the bravery, professionalism, and dedication demonstrated by these officers. We thank them for their outstanding service and continued commitment to protecting our community.”
