Arlington Has A New Animal Control Leader
Residents will soon have a chance to meet the new officer.
ARLINGTON, MA — The police department is introducing its newest member to the community later this month.
Michelle Parsons was announced as Arlington’s newest Animal Control Officer on Monday. Animal control officers enforce town by-laws and state animal control laws, as well as responding to requests by community members for help with catching loose or lost animals, aggressive dogs, and injured animals.
Parsons graduated as the Class of 2025 Valedictorian of the Animal Control Officer of Massachusetts Academy. According to the department, Parsons is a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator and holds certifications in animal first aid and CPR. She is also a member of prominent organizations such as the Massachusetts Animal Coalition, the Massachusetts Animal Control Officers Association, and the Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Massachusetts. Arlington police said her resume reflects a strong commitment to animals and their health as well as the community. She was previously the Animal Control Officer for the town of Newburyport.
