Arlington Crime Log: Ex-Common Ground Employee Gets Scary, More Car Windows Destroyed

Police Log: Wednesday, June 10

  • Cyclist Injured In Crash, 8:02 a.m. Swan Place

A woman on a bicycle made a quick turn and saw a car backing out of its driveway, but was unable to stop in time to avoid slamming into it.

Arlington Fire and EMS treated the victim for facial bleeding and took spinal precautions before bringing her to the hospital. The driver said she didn’t see the victim until after the fact.

  • Car Window Destroyed, 9:40 a.m., Bailey Road

Between 3 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. on Wednesday, someone smashed the rear window of a parked car. As far as anyone could tell, nothing was missing from the vehicle.

  • Ex-Common Ground Employee Threatens Ex-Manager, 1:15 p.m., Arlington Common Ground/319 Broadway

Evidently, a manager at Arlington’s Common Ground franchise found an employee needlessly hostile, even unhinged, upon calling him to tell him his services were no longer required.

The former employee supposedly said he planned to show up at his former place of employment, and tell the manager a thing or two, in a manner that made said manager nervous.

Arlington Police explained how to file a trespass order should such an event transpire.

  • False Unemployment Claim Filed, 6:33 p.m., Thorndike Street

A woman came to the police station to tell them she had received a letter regarding her unemployment claim.

She found this to be a weird letter, as she has a job and no recollection of filing an unemployment claim. She had already contacted her company’s human resources department and the Department of Unemployment about the matter.

  • Yet Another Smashed Car Window, 11:53 p.m., Gray Street

An Arlington man was home minding his own business when he heard a loud crash, and went outside to discover the driver’s side window of his car had been demolished. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.
