Arlington Cuts Ribbon On Long-awaited Playground Renovations: Report

Robbins Farm Park underwent a project to make it more universally accessible.

ARLINGTON, MA — The town cut the ribbon on the Robbins Farm Park’s playground after more than a year of renovations, according to a report by yourArlington.

The park, located on Eastern Avenue, was renovated for the purpose of maximizing its accessibility for people of varying abilities. One example of new equipment is the “Universal Carousel,” which is designed to provide a fun spinning experience for all levels of physical ability.
The project was originally slated to be completed this past summer, however it was delayed due to the need for additional time to craft two 30-foot long concrete slides.

The Friends of Robbins Farm Park fundraising organization was a driving force behind making the renovations possible. According to the town, the group raised $64,000 of the project’s total $2.1 million. Nearly $1 million was approved by the Community Preservation Committee at Town Meeting, and the remaining cost was paid for using American Rescue Plan Act funds.
