Arlington Police Warn Of Cocaine Phone Scam

Scammers are reportedly posing as officers and placing calls to residents.

ARLINGTON, MA — The police department is warning the community after their non-emergency phone line is being impersonated in an attempt to scam residents.

The number 781-643-1212 appears as the incoming caller, but in reality, it is an imposter. According to police, the scammers are pretending to be police officers and telling residents that a package of cocaine has been delivered to their residence. The callers are attempting to extract personal and financial information through fear and intimidation.

The department emphasized that it would never call from that line or demand personal information. It is instructing all people to hang up immediately if they answer the phone.
