Arlington Ranks In Top 1% Of Small Cities In America: Report
WalletHub compared more than 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 across 43 key indicators of livability.

ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington is in the top 1 percent of America’s small cities, according to a report released Tuesday by the personal finance website WalletHub.
In 2022’s Best Small Cities In America, WalletHub compared more than 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 across 43 key indicators of livability. They range from housing costs and school-system quality to restaurants per capita and the crime rate.
Here is Arlington’s ranking according to the report, with number 1 being the best and 660 being average:

- 819th – Homeownership rate
- 231st – Percent of population in poverty
- 608th – Income growth
- 10th – Percent of insured population
- 39th – Percent of adults in fair or poor health
- 1045th – Average weekly work hours
- 12th – Crime Rate
- 112th – Percent of residents who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19
With 100 being the most favorable living conditions, Arlington received a total score of 68.92. The city with the highest score was Lancaster, Pennsylvania at 71.04.
