Name The Brook: Arlington Residents Asked To Help Name Important Waterway

The waterway, located near Mill Brook, has long been without a title.

ARLINGTON, MA — The town is seeking the community’s help in naming a waterway that has long been known as “No Name Brook.”

The brook spans about 1,600 feet long and flows alongside the Minuteman Bikeway in Arlington Heights. The town has posted flyers advertising the opportunity to provide input on the new name near the brook. Residents can submit their suggestions online until Tuesday, July 1. According to the town, 150 submissions have already been received.

Coinciding with the incoming new name, Arlington is taking steps toward restoring the brook as it has suffered from bank erosion and stormwater pollution in recent years. The Department of Planning and Community Development and Open Space Committee have hired engineers from Hatch and Weston & Sampson to model flood resilience and design changes for the brook. The design work is slated to be completed by Monday, June 30.
