Arlington Starts Coronavirus Relief Fund For Residents

The fund will provide emergency assistance for people and families in Arlington experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic.

ARLINGTON, MA — The town announced the launch of the Arlington COVID-19 Relief Fund Tuesday and is seeking donations to help residents in need during and after the coronavirus crisis.

The fund was established by the town of Arlington and the Arlington Health and Human Services Charitable Corporation to provide emergency assistance for people and families in Arlington experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.

Members of the Arlington community are encouraged to donate whatever they can to the fund. Donations will help residents:

  • remain in their homes with rent/mortgage payments and assistance with utilities
  • keep their kids connected to school lessons and families in contact through internet connectivity
  • pay for health care and medications
  • fund child care while essential workers continue to keep the community running
  • support to small businesses and those that work in town

To make an online donation to the Arlington COVID-19 Relief Fund, click here. Donations to the fund are fully tax-deductible and provide emergency assistance to Arlington community members. Those who donate to the fund should note that there is a new deduction available for those who do not itemize their taxes of up to $300 per individual or $600 per household. Donations to the Arlington COVID-19 Relief Fund will qualify for this deduction.

Additionally, on Tuesday, May 5, the world will be celebrating Giving Tuesday Now. Giving Tuesday is celebrated annually on Dec. 1, but in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be celebrated twice this year with the addition of Giving Tuesday Now.
