Arlington Sushi Restaurant Closes After 21 Years

Toraya Restaurant, which said its landlord plans to demolish its Mass. Ave. building, is looking to open in another location.

ARLINGTON, MA — A decades-old sushi restaurant on Mass. Ave. is shutting down, but it's looking to move to a new location. Toraya Restaurant has closed because "our landlord has let us know that they are planning to demolish the building," according to a statement on the restaurant's website.

"We didn't want to close the restaurant, but we were notified that our lease would be terminated as of April 30, 2020," the statement continued. The restaurant plans to open in a new spot, but a location has not yet been determined.

Toraya opened in 1999 and offered sushi and other Japanese staples. It was located at 890 Mass. Ave.
