Arlington Upgrading 3 Staple Locations Through Energy Efficiency Grant
The town has received funds through this channel for thirteen years.

ARLINGTON, MA — The town announced that it has received a $125,000 grant through the Department of Energy Resources Green Communities Program. The funds will be used to assist in the effort of reducing municipal energy use.
The Ed Burns Arena, Hardy Elementary School, and Thompson Elementary School are all slated to receive utility upgrades funded by the grant. The Ed Burns Arena and Ice Skating Rink will be addressed with air sealing, insulation, and weatherstripping, Hardy Elementary will receive a new energy management system to ensure efficient operation of heating and cooling equipment, and Thompson Elementary will receive new high-efficiency LED lighting fixtures in offices, restrooms, classrooms, hallways, the gymnasium, and the music room.
According to the town, the total cost of this project is $308,580. National Grid and Eversource are footing nearly 25% of the cost through energy efficiency incentive funding.

“To reach our goal of net zero GHG emissions by 2050, we must continue to ensure that our buildings are using energy as efficiently as possible, in addition to electrifying our heating systems,” Town Manager Jim Feeney said.
Arlington has received more than $2 million from the state’s Green Communities Program since it began in 2010.
