Arlington's Miles Robinson Selected in 2017 MLS SuperDraft

The Syracuse University product is his new team's first ever SuperDraft selection.

ARLINGTON, MA — An Arlington native has realized his dream of playing professional soccer Friday when he was selected No. 2 overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Miles Robinson, a graduate and former AHS basketball player, was selected by Atlanta United, who is joining the MLS as an expansion team during the upcoming season.

Robinson was a 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2016. He was also named to the All-Conference Freshman team and was a two-year starter at Syracuse.

“We’re happy with today’s draft as we feel we’ve added two more quality players to our roster,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said in a statement on the team's website. “With Miles, he was a player we had our eye on throughout the process. He has the physical attributes to fit in well with our style of play."

Robinson played for the FC Boston Bolts club team during his high school years which did not allow him to suit up for the Spy Ponders, but was a standout basketball player for the Arlington High School boys basketball team. He lead the Spy Ponders to an undefeated Middlesex League season during his senior year.
