ARMUN Recognized, Arlington Student Awarded Top Honors at Yale

ARMUN was recognized as the 1 US award winner and Arlington Student Charlotte Kilroy was named Outstanding Delegate at Yale Model UN Conf.

The Arlington Regional Model United Nations & Civic Engagement Clubs (ARMUN) are pleased to report that 5 students from the Middle School Club and 6 students from the High School Club attended the 44th Annual Yale Model United Nations Conference from Thursday, January 18 through Sunday, January 21, one of the world's premier high school Model UN Conferences.

They were thrilled to be recognized as the US program to receive this year's "Breaking Boundaries Scholarship", which is awarded to a school/program that the Conference leadership believes will make a significant contribution to the overall conference environment, bring back significant learning and experience from the conference that they will use to benefit their program and their wider school and community, and has demonstrated that the scholarship is needed to make their participation in the conference financially feasible. Other scholarships given at the conference went to school/programs from each geographical region of the continents of the world outside of the US. The Club was recognized at the awards ceremony for the Conference, along with the International Scholarship Award winners.

Additionally, two students received individual awards. Arlington homeschooled freshman Charlotte Kilroy was honored with the Outstanding Delegate award for the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) where she represented Singapore. Waltham Junior Adam Goulet was honored as the Best Delegate in his role as a Justice in the International Court of Justice simulation. Adam was also a Head Delegate for the Team.

Other students on the team included 3 Ottoson Students: Maya Krishnan and Juliette Ortiz, the middle school club co-leaders, and Henar Maillo.
