Crime Log: Checkbook Pilfered From Symmes Circle Apartment

The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department.

Crime Log: Sunday, April 26

  • Hit and Run, 6:53 a.m. Pleasant Street

Two days prior, the reporting party said someone hit his parked rental card and left a note with their name, phone number, and email address. Several attempts to contact the driver had proven fruitless, according to the reporting party. Hence the call to police.

  • Shrub Fire, 12:02 p.m., James Street

Police responded to reports of a backyard fire. The Arlington Fire Department had kept the blaze contained to a few shrubs, and had dealt with the situation before police arrived.

  • Checkbook Stolen From Home, Symmes Circle, 5:24 p.m.

A woman told police that she was out of her apartment between the hours of 12:45 and 3:30 p.m. When she returned, she discovered her front door unlocked.

This was highly suspicious, given she was certain she had locked it on her way out.

Soon, she noticed her checkbook had disappeared from her coffee table. The front door’s lock had not been noticeably damaged, and the reporting party told police no one aside from family members and building employees have keys to the apartment.
