ARLINGTON, MA — A man was rescued from Spy Pond after falling through the ice Sunday morning.

Police said the man went into the water near Linwood Street around 11:30 a.m. Emergency crews were able to pull the man to shore using a lifeline.

Arlington Fire Chief Kevin Kelley and Police Chief Julie Flaherty reminded residents the town never declares ice to be safe and does not recommend that people go onto bodies of water during the winter.

Residents are also warned to keep dogs off the ice.

"These situations can have tragic outcomes as it puts the dog, the owner, and the first responders in unnecessary risky situations," officials said.
