Revolutionary War Reenactment Coming To Arlington
One of the war's first battles took place where the town would later be founded.
ARLINGTON, MA — The town has announced that a reenactment of the Battle of Menotomy, a historic event of the Revolutionary War, will take place on Sunday, April 20 as part of the American Revolution’s 250th anniversary.
The festivity will be coordinated by Revolution250, a nonprofit coalition that aims to keep the history of the country’s origins relevant through education. The Battle of Menotomy took place on April 19, 1775. Retreating British troops fought with local militia on the grounds that would one day become Arlington. Rev250 Director Jonathan Lane described the battle as a catalyst for colonial resistance during the first days of the war.
“Rev250 is collaborating with local historians, reenactment groups, and community organizations to ensure the event authentically represents the history of Menotomy,” The town said in a statement. “This initiative is part of a broader effort to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution through engaging and educational programming.”
