Calling All Public Policy Advocates

The following announcement is from state Sen. Richard Ross' office:

Sen. Richard Ross is seeking examples of citizens in his district who have advocated for public policy changes in the commonwealth. Selected submissions may be included in a legislative report of The Special Commission on Civic Engagement and Learning, of which Ross is a member.

"This is an excellent opportunity to recognize individuals who have dedicated their time to making the commonwealth a better place," Ross said. "Their stories will help illustrate to the legislature the work being done by citizens to promote positive changes in their communities and in the commonwealth as a whole."

The Special Commission on Civic Engagement and Learning is charged with evaluating the state of civic engagement and learning in Massachusetts, including civic engagement in schools and opportunities for service learning, among others. The commission's report will be submitted to the legislature in December.

The commission is seeking examples of individuals who have worked to achieve some type of change in public policy. It is not seeking examples of community service work at this time. All submission must be submitted by Aug. 17 to Catherine Lawrie Gillespie, Ross' constituent services director, at catherine.gillespie@masenate.gov or 617-722-1555.
