The following is an edited release from the :

The Attleboro Farmers Market recently made a $100 donation to the Attleboro Youth Commission so the civic-minded children and teen can purchase T-shirts emblazed with the commission logo that will allow them to be recognized during their fundraising efforts and other activities. The commission raises money for community programs, including H.E.A.T. and the Attleboro Fireworks Fund.

Youth commissioners have volunteered at the farmers market each week this season, providing assistance to shoppers who need a hand as well as assisting vendors and organizers during set up and break down.

The youth commission provides young locals an opportunity to participate in local government and ensure they have a role and voice in the policy and budget decisions that impact their lives. Commissioners represent and advocate for the needs and wants of Attleboro's youth and encourage other young people to become involved and to speak up in the political arena.

Many young adults have questions about local government and are deeply concerned about their community. If given the opportunity, they would love to participate in setting the goals and policies that will affect them in the future. The establishment of the Attleboro Youth Commission gives these young adults this opportunity.

Those interested in giving financial support to the commission should send donations to at City of Attleboro, 74 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703. Specify the money is for youth commission use, H.E.A.T. or Fireworks Fund.
