Grace Baptist Hoops Stars Earn Honors

Twelve basketball players representing Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro were recently honored by the Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools for their efforts during the 2011-12 season.

Jamie Emerson and Stacy Wiegand from the girls squad were named to the All-MACS first-team. Olivia Beals, Sara Allen and Hannah Johnson made the second team. In addition, Bailey McLernon placed first in the girls three-point shooting contest at the MACS State Tournament.

Connor McLernon from the boys squad was a named to the All-MACS first team. Zachary Yoakum, Tyler McGee, A.J. Russell and Andrew Schoepfer made the second team. Lee Nichols captured the top prize in the boys three-point shooting contest.

"We are very proud of the achievements of all our players on both teams and honored that so many of our players received all-star honors this year," said Pastor Jeffrey Nichols, the school's director of athletics and head coach of both basketball teams.

The girls squad claimed its second straight MACS regular season and state tournament titles. The boys team settled for a second-place finish to New England Baptist Academy of West Bridgewater in both regular season and state tournament action.
