Several events are scheduled for families and children this week at the library during April vacation.
Today (Tuesday) at 11 a.m., the library will be showing a newly released documentary featuring an inspiring story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time.

It's a heartwarming adventure transporting moviegoers into the lush rainforests of Borneo with world-renowned primatologist Dr. Birute Mary Galdikas, and across the rugged Kenyan savannah with celebrated elephant authority Dame Daphne Sheldrick, as they and their teams rescue, rehabilitate and return these incredible animals back to the wild.
Narrated by Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, the documentary is only 45 minutes long and is rated G. Registration is not required. This event is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday at 2 p.m., the library will present Mr. D.J.'s Ultimate Kids Party. It will include music, dancing, contests, singing, limbo, disco lights, bubbles, prizes and more. Go for more information.
On Thursday at 3 p.m., Seekonk chef Jen Tadros will demonstrate and create healthy snacks for children and their families. Participants will make a snack to take home. This program does require registration and is open to children in Kindergarten and up.
In celebration of Earth Day, the Youth Services Department has scheduled a special after-school program next Monday at 4 p.m. called "Turtle, Turtle, Watch Out!" Presented by the Rhode Island Audubon Society, it's a special storytime for children in preschool through third grade. There is a rumor that there will be real turtles in attendance for the children to see. Registration is required.
