Students Raise Money for School

Monday's rainy weather put a damper on outside activities, but failed to temper the enthusiasm of students at , who simply moved indoors to complete an annual fundraising program for the school.

Under the direction of physical education teacher Holly Redding, Dayspring Christian students in preschool through eighth grade walked laps in the school's gymnasium in three shifts as part of its annual Walk-A-Thon fundraiser. Students in grades two through eight were originally scheduled to walk laps in the school's shared parking lot with the , but were forced inside because of the inclement weather.

Preschool, kindergarten and first-grade students walked in the morning, while those in grades two through eight fulfilled their responsibilities during the afternoon hours prior to returning to their classes.

Despite the rain, students' energy and excitement were sky-high as they completed laps in the gymnasium. All students had previously solicited financial contributions for the Walk-A-Thon based on the number of laps they completed.

Administrator Frank Rydwansky said the Walk-A-Thon is an annual program at the school and raises funds for educational purposes. In past years, Walk-A-Thon proceeds have been used to purchase computer equipment and supplies, athletic equipment and library materials.
