Top Sturdy Nurses Recognized

Nine nurses were honored with the Florence Nightingale award, a peer-recognition honor given to one nurse per patient care area, during the recent National Nurses Week dinner.    

The winners were:

  • Kathy Silva (labor/delivery/recovery/post-partum)
  • Amanda Hill-Cook (balfour)
  • Laurie Heaton (montplaisir)
  • Sarah White (intensive care)
  • Jane Walsh (post anestsia care)
  • Sandy Rego-Faford (operating room)
  • Amy Cournoyer (emergency care)
  • Trish Hanson (nurse leadership)
  • Karen Messier (oncology)

"The winners of this year's Florence Nightingale Award are highly skilled, dedicated and reliable individuals," said Marita Prater, the hospital's vice president for patient services. "Award recipients were acknowledged for their compassionate care and as leaders involved in advancing nursing practice."
