Triboro Theatre Hires Artistic Director

The following announcement is from the :

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Steffani Johnson will take the reins at TYT as the new artistic director beginning Sept 1. She will work hand-in-hand with (outgoing director) Vivian Humphrey this summer on the two current productions, Kamp Kaos and The Music Man.

Johnson, a 27-year-old Providence resident and  graduate, is no stranger to TYT. She joined the company as a youth member in the 1999 production of Anything Goes. She went on to appear in 13 TYT shows and many TMT shows. She also toured with TYT PlayWorks, also known as Troupe.

She served as a student representative to the board of directors, worked as TYT's administrative assistant and helped with hair, makeup, costumes, choreography as well as house management for numerous productions. Johnson also directed two shows here—Tied to the Tracks and Dear Edwina, Jr.

Humphrey is very excited with the board's decision to choose Johnson.

"I couldn't be happier," she said when apprised of the vote. "Steffi not only has the institutional knowledge and experience, but also understands the spirit and heart of TYT."

Johnson graduated from Attleboro High in 2003 and has studied theatre at NYU/Tisch/Cap21 and Bridgewater State University. She is getting married to Elliott Langston in August. Their dog Moose will be the ring bearer.
