Attleboro Firefighter Dies In Line Of Duty

Attleboro firefighter Thomas Cannon, who served for more than 30 years, suffered a medical issue while working at a fire station.

ATTLEBORO, MA — A veteran Attleboro firefighter died Monday after suffering a medical issue while on duty. Thomas Cannon was 63 years old and left behind a wife and three sons.

"On behalf of the entire Attleboro Fire Department I want to extend our love and prayers to his family and loved ones," Attleboro fire Chief Scott Lachance said in a statement. "He served our department with distinction and pride for over 30 years."

Cannon was performing truck and equipment checks at the Twin Village Fire Station Sunday when he went into cardiac arrest, according to Lachance. His fellow firefighters revived him and he was hospitalized and died Monday.

Cannon's son Seth followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a firefighter in Sandwich.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
