Attleboro Firefighters Deliver Baby In Back Of Ambulance

ATTLEBORO, MA — Attleboro firefighters made a special delivery last week. On Wednesday at about 3:45 a.m., Korissa Burch went into labor at a Peck Street residence. Firefighters Ryan Bielawa and Cameron Eames to the scene and loaded Burch in an ambulance. Eames took the wheel and drove to Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Bielawa stayed with Burch in the back. The child could not wait and Bielawa delivered the baby girl in the back of the ambulance before reaching the hospital. Both mother and child were healthy and happy.

On Thursday, Burch, father Jesse Hester and child Addilynn will visit the fire station to say thanks.

"I’m thankful that they helped deliver our beautiful healthy child and I can't wait to say thank you to them in person," Burch said in a statement. "In the ambulance they told us Addilynn's gender, which we didn't know before she was born. So it was a really special moment."

The firefighters will receive commendations for their efforts.

Said fire Chief Scott LaChance, "In our line of work there are many calls that we go on that don't have positive or pleasant results. This one had a happy ending and brought a new life into the world. I am happy to hear that both mother and child are healthy and I'm looking forward to meeting them tomorrow."
