Attleboro Man Accused of Mansfield Auto Theft
Authorities are looking for Jose Silvestre.

An Attleboro man is wanted in connection with the theft of a Foxobrough man's vehicle in Mansfield.
Jose Silvestre, 38, of Attleboro was issued a summons arrest on Monday on suspicion of larceny of a motor vehicle and felony larceny. The owner of the vehicle said that 30 minutes prior to the call, Silvestre had stolen his 2004 Kia Optima from the Canoe River Campgrounds in Mansfield.
Operations Lt. Samuel Thompson Jr. said Silvestre knew the caller.

"He told the [car's owner] that he was going out to smoke a cigarette and he just took his car and left," Thompson said. "The guy who owned the car knew him, and said he had a drug problem."
The caller stated that Silvestre had planned to drive to Providence to pawn the contents of the vehicle, which included a laptop, cell phone and other items.

A BOLO (be on the lookout) advisory was posted to the Providence Police Department in the area where Silvestre was known to purchase narcotics.
Thompson said that a summons arrest was issued for Silvestre, but to his knowledge, he had not been apprehended. He added that the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as stolen.
