An East Providence woman who authorities say ﻿was severely beaten and strangled by her husband Aug. 13 died from her injuries Sunday, according to﻿<a href="http://www.wpri.com/dpp/news/local_news/providence/east-providence-woman-dies-weeks-after-alleged-beating" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">WPRI-TV in Providence</a>. Authorities say Lucy Ponte, 54, had been beaten by her husband Mario Ponte, 48. He was found dead from an apparent suicide later that day at a farm in Seekonk where he worked. The cause of Ponte's death is under investigation, according to WPRI.
