Elderly Attleboro Woman Killed In NJ Crash: Police

The Thanksgiving-weekend collision sent both vehicles into a highway median, authorities said.

CHESTERFIELD, NJ — A collision sent two vehicles into a highway median and killed an Attleboro resident early Sunday morning in New Jersey, officials said.

The crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike's south side in Chesterfield. State Police identified the decedent as Maria Irgui, 75, of Attleboro.

On the turnpike's inner roadway, a Ford passenger car hit the back of a Nissan passenger vehicle, officials said. The impact sent both vehicles into the center median, according to State Tpr. Troy McNair.

Irgui was a passenger in the Ford, police said. Both drivers also sustained minor injuries, according to McNair.

The crash remains under investigation.
