Electrical Fire Sparks in Attleboro

The power service to the home is destroyed.

At least six people were left in need of emergency shelter Thursday evening after an electrical fire destroyed the power system at a multi-family unit home on Falmouth Street near downtown Attleboro. Nobody was injured in the incident that happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. and Deputy Fire Chief Ed Greve said damage was limited to the building's basement, including electric panels.

Greve said the fire was sparked by an electricity shortout behind the home at 17 Falmouth St.

The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts provided emergency shelter and food to six residents (four adults and two children), Red Cross Communications Manager Ashley Studley wrote in an email to the media.
