Fun Planned for Fourth of July in Attleboro

Events will include youth games in the morning and fireworks at night.

Plenty of patriotic festivities are in store for Attleboro residents Wednesday as the city celebrates the nation's birthday.

The schedule will begin at the  with the Kidz 4th Fun event from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., which is free for all Attleboro residents. It will include a variety of games such as the three-legged, wheel-barrel and peanut-on-a-spoon races as well as the watermelon roll. The games will be open to children ages 13 and under—and there will be adult versions.

"We don't do winners and losers, we just do fun," Recreation Director Dennis Walsh told Attleboro Patch.

The event will also include free hot dogs, chips and drinks as well as raffle tickets. Prizes will include Red Sox tickets, duck tour passes and sports camp admissions, among others.

Beginning at 10:15 a.m., children will parade on their bikes featuring unique designs. Patriotic and other music will be provided throughout the morning by DJ Nate Adams.

The festivities will continue in the evening at Hayward Field with a series of events leading up to the 9:31 p.m. fireworks show, which is entirely funded  and Dunkin' Donuts.

The evening schedule is:

7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Coastline Show Chorus strolls through crowd and performs

7:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. Big Nazo (puppets) stroll through the crowd

9:28 p.m. Mayor Kevin Dumas speaks

9:30 p.m. Robin Hughes sings national anthem

9:31 p.m. Fireworks begin
