Locals Win National Merit Scholarships
Joseph Kelley and Amanda Schramm are juniors at Attleboro High School.

Two juniors are recipients of the prestigious National Merit Scholarship. Joseph Kelley and Amanda Schramm were recognized for their achievements at the School Committee meeting on Monday.
Schramm enjoys math and physics, and wants to have a career in a math field. She also dances at a local studio and is involved in school activities.
Kelley likes math and science, and plans to apply to the top math, science and engineering colleges and universities in the nation. He is involved in Attleboro High's student council and Leo Club. Also, Kelley is one of several high school students participating in a field test for an online engineering course with MIT.

Schramm and Kelley both have jobs, and Kelley could not be in attendance for the recognition because he had to work Monday night.
"That both students work, it says something about the character of who they are," Superintendent Pia Durkin said.
