Man, 74, Killed In Attleboro Crash Admitted To Wife's Killing: Reports

Basil Bletis, now 74, turned himself in to California police in 1987 and admitted to murdering his then-28-year-old wife, reports say.

ATTLEBORO, MA — An Attleboro man who was killed Saturday night when a car struck him as he walked on Pleasant Street had previously confessed to killing his wife, according to multiple reports.

Basil Bletis, now 74, turned himself in to California police in 1987 and admitted to the homicide of his then-28-year-old wife, Panagiota Bletsis, WPRI reported.

The killing occurred at the couple's Chelmsford home when Basil Bletis was 37, Boston25 reported.

Panagiota Bletsis was found with her hands tied behind her back with a telephone cord in the trunk of a car at John F. Kennedy International Airport, police told The New York Times at the time of the crime.

Bletsis confessed to the killing after flying to California, according to WPRI, which noted that it is unclear where the case went from there.
