North Attleboro Police Cruiser Struck By Driver On I-95

The North Attleboro officer is recovering at Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, State Police said.

ATTLEBORO, MA — Massachusetts State Troopers are investigating after they say a North Attleboro police officer's cruiser was struck Thursday night, leaving two people injured.

Police say the accident caused traffic to be backed up for miles.

The cruiser was parked on I-95 South near exit 5, working on a construction detail when investigators say the officer was hit.

State Police say the officer was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital and the driver of the other car was taken to a Rhode Island hospital with a lower-body injury.

This is the second time a cruiser has been struck while working a construction detail this week. On Tuesday night, police say a State Trooper was working a detail in Weston when he was struck by a tractor-trailer driver who police later found fell asleep at the wheel.
