A young Attleboro resident accused of a terrifying crime will remain in custody, a Fall River Juvenile Court judge determined Tuesday. Authorities say Brandon Bonin, 15, tried to kill his neighbor 63-year-old Paula McMurrough earlier this month during a four-hour stretch of horror that included stabbing, attempted drowning and attempted asphyxiation. Various media reported Bonin's attorney asked for his client to be released to his aunt as he goes through the legal process. But the judge determined the teen was a danger to the public and ordered he remain in custody without bail for at least 90 days. Bonin was sent to a youth facility. He must return to court April 9. A grand jury indicted Bonin last week on charges of home invasion, kidnapping, assault to commit murder, attempted murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60 years old. Although the court proceedings, including a potential trial, are taking place in a juvenile court, he has been charged as an adult.
