A homeless man from Boston was charged with raping a woman after they took the train to Mansfield

A homeless man from Boston is accused of raping a homeless woman in Mansfield after they took the train to town.
Jorel Alfred, 43, pleaded innocent to the charge Tuesday in Attleboro District Court, according to the Sun Chronicle. He said in court he paid the woman for sex.

According to court records, Alfred and the woman took the Commuter Rail to Mansfield on Dec. 12 and got into a car at the Mansfield Gas station on Chauncy Street, where he works part time.
The woman fell asleep in the car and told police that Alfred sexually assaulted her before she passed out and may have again afterwards.

Police took Alfred into custody at the gas station on Dec. 14, according to the Mansfield Police Log.
Alfred was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. Assistant District Attorney Melissa Tafe requested $25,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on Jan. 6 for a probable cause hearing.
