The MBTA and Keolis say the gates aim to curb fare evasion and have boosted revenue at North Station, but commuters worry about bottlenecks during busy weekday rushes. 
• Boston Police Blotter: Massachusetts prisoner gets decade for beating fellow inmate to death (bostonherald.com) — Police are seeking the public’s help after four women allegedly stole about $900 in merchandise from the Lululemon store on Newbury Street in Back Bay just before Christmas. The broader police blotter also covers a prison manslaughter sentence, a Dorchester shooting arrest, and several other Boston-area charges and incidents.
