1 Barnstable Runner Finished The Boston Marathon: Here's How They Did

BARNSTABLE, MA — The finish line tape has been crossed and broken through, with Evans Chebet and Hellen Obiri, both of Kenya, grabbing the crown in the men’s and woman’s races of the 127th running of the Boston Marathon.

Some 30,000 entrants from 122 countries and all 50 U.S. states began making the 26.2-mile trip from Hopkinton to Boston Monday morning.

For many locals, simply qualifying for the race is a lifetime achievement. Running the race makes it even sweeter.

That includes the only Barnstable runner to finish the race, in Susan Shanley, 63, who completed the marathon with a time of 4:08:00, a pace of just over 10 minutes.

The Boston Marathon course starts in Hopkinton and ends on Boylston Street in Boston, with runners passing through Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, and Brookline along the way.
